Let's make a GOOD new Ghostbusters!

Okay, so the new Ghostbusters movie looks like a big bag of shit. Despite claims to the contrary by psychopathic children, it's NOT because of sexism. So, I thought I would come up with a better one. Let's do it.

First of all, we're counting the incredible 2009 video game as the third Ghostbusters movie, it's canon and the events of this new movie follow the events of the game. The Ghostbusters is now a nation-wide franchise. The old Ghostbusters have retired except for Winston who's now the president of Ghostbusters Inc.

The movie picks up in New York, where a new team of Ghostbusters have taken over the original fire station used in the previous movies. Here's my personal pick for the new cast...

Maria Bamford

Maria Bamford would play a slightly unstable psychic who can communicate with the dead but sometimes gets lost in it and briefly taken over by the spirit she's communicating with.

Adam Savage

Adam Savage plays the tinkerer, inventor, almost to obsession. A lot like his real life persona.
Jamie Foxx

Jamie Foxx is the scientist who often has to dumb down his explanations for the rest of the team.
Tig Notaro

Tig Notaro plays an enthusiastic new recruit who often gets asked to test new gadgets, sometimes to hilarious effect.

The plot would center around a villain who has studied necromancy and is opening portals to various realms inhabited by evil spirits in an attempt to become a god. The villain summons various ghosts, including past Ghostbusters villains, to thwart their attempts to stop him.

There's a scene in which the resurrected Marshmallow Man destroys the US Senate, causing a nearby crowd, previously terrified, to cheer and applaud before turning back to terror. Another scene in which the military allows the Ghostbusters to retrofit one or more tanks with their gear to fight the larger summoned creatures.

The final scene would involve a very large monstrosity, a twisted combination of many ghosts and monsters, being battled by HUNDREDS of Ghostbusters from various different franchise locations.

That's a very rushed version of the movie I might make. Thoughts? Leave a comment below.
